How Does A Garbage Disposal Fail?
There are many ways a garbage disposal can fail, such as:
- If you can hear a hum but it doesn’t grind, then its impeller might be jammed.
- If you find standing water underneath it then there’s likely a leak, and connections will need to either be tightened or resealed.
- If the garbage disposal runs sometimes and not others, then there may be an electrical issue with the switch.
- If your garbage disposal makes any other non-grinding sounds, then the motor may be internally damaged.

We offer simple, transparent pricing options for garbage disposal replacement starting at $150 including disposing of old unit.
- Option 1- Customer provides garbage disposal $150
- Option 2 – Nova Garbage Disposals provides a Badger 100 1/3 hp disposal and installation $310 including disposing of old unit
* On rare occasions plumbing will need to be replaced or modified. In those instances, the technician will explain the situation and go over any additional costs in advance.
